TV, satellite and security across Norfolk

We cover Norwich and every major town in Norfolk, from Great Yarmouth on the coast to King's Lynn and Downham Market on the edge of the Fens, and Thetford, Dereham, Wymondham, Attleborough and North Walsham in between. We install and repair TV aerials, fit Sky and Freesat dishes and design CCTV, alarms and access control and WiFi networks for homes and businesses across the county.

TV reception in Norfolk

Norfolk is served almost entirely by the Tacolneston transmitter, a tall mast on high ground south-west of Norwich, which carries BBC East and ITV Anglia. It gives a strong signal across much of the county, but distance, valleys and buildings leave gaps that a network of relays fills. Relays serve central Norwich, Gorleston near Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft just over the Suffolk border, Thetford and King's Lynn, with smaller relays along the north Norfolk coast, at places such as West Runton, Overstrand and Wells-next-the-Sea.

Relays usually broadcast with a different polarisation from Tacolneston, so an aerial pointed at one is mounted differently. In west Norfolk, around King's Lynn, some homes get a better signal from Belmont in Lincolnshire, which carries Yorkshire and Lincolnshire regional news instead. Near Downham Market, Sandy Heath in Bedfordshire can also be an option. We measure what's available and set the aerial up for the most reliable picture.

Norwich and its suburbs

Norwich has one of the largest historic centres in England, with medieval lanes, conservation areas and many listed buildings, along with student flats, terraces and large suburbs such as Sprowston, Thorpe St Andrew, Hellesdon and Costessey. In the city we often work on communal TV systems, door entry for flats and discreet installations on period homes. In the suburbs it's realigning storm-hit aerials, adding TV points and fitting home CCTV.

The Norfolk coast

Great Yarmouth, Gorleston, Caister and the north Norfolk coast take the full force of North Sea weather. Salt air corrodes fixings and connectors, and winter gales loosen chimney brackets and bend poles. We use stainless and heavy-duty fittings and weather-sealed connections so aerials and dishes last.

Rural Norfolk

Much of Norfolk is farmland, forest and small villages. Homes in the Breckland around Thetford, in the Fens near Downham Market and in remote parts of north Norfolk can be far from any transmitter. High-gain aerials, taller masts and good cable are often the answer, and where aerial reception is genuinely poor, Freesat by satellite gives subscription-free TV without relying on a mast. Farms and rural businesses ask us for CCTV covering yards, barns and gates, and for networks reaching outbuildings.

Historic market towns

King's Lynn, Wymondham, Swaffham, Holt and Downham Market have conservation areas and many listed buildings, including King's Lynn's medieval merchants' houses and warehouses. We take care with old chimneys and follow the rules on dishes and aerials facing the street.

Which transmitter serves Norfolk?

Almost all of Norfolk is served by Tacolneston, south-west of Norwich, carrying BBC East and ITV Anglia. Relays at Norwich Central, Gorleston, Thetford, King's Lynn and several coastal sites fill in local gaps. Around King's Lynn, some homes also use Belmont in Lincolnshire.

Do you cover north Norfolk and the Broads?

Yes. As well as the towns listed, we cover villages across the county, including north Norfolk and the Broads.

Can you help with weak signal in rural Norfolk?

Yes. For homes far from a transmitter or behind hills and trees, we use high-gain aerials, taller masts and low-loss cable. Where aerial reception is genuinely poor, Freesat by satellite is a reliable alternative.
