CCTV designed around your property
A good CCTV system shows you clear, usable footage of the places that matter: front door, driveway, side access, garden, shop floor or yard. It records reliably day and night, and lets you check in from your phone whenever you want. A poor one gives grainy pictures of the wrong spot, with a camera that nobody checked was recording.
Digitel UK has over 20 years of combined experience in the security industry. We design, install and maintain CCTV for homes, landlords, shops, offices and commercial sites across Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Every system starts with a site visit, so camera positions suit your property rather than a standard kit.
How we plan your CCTV system
- Survey. We walk the property with you, look at entry points, lighting and where people and vehicles approach, and agree what each camera needs to see.
- Design. We choose camera types and lenses for each position: wide views for gardens and yards, tighter views for doors, gates and number plates.
- Fixed quote. You get a clear price for the whole system before any work starts.
- Installation. Cameras are fitted with neat, hidden cabling and a recorder kept safely indoors.
- Handover. We set up the phone app, show you how to view, play back and export footage, and check every camera at night as well as by day.

CCTV for homes
For most houses, a system of two to four cameras covers the essentials: the front door and porch, the driveway and cars, side access and the back garden. With 4K cameras and good infrared or colour night vision, you can recognise faces and read details, not just see movement. Motion alerts on your phone tell you when someone arrives, and you can check deliveries or the house while you're at work or away.
We use wired cameras wherever possible because they don't need charging and don't drop off WiFi. Power and data run down a single cable to each camera. Where cabling isn't practical, for example to a detached garage or outbuilding, we can use a wireless link.
CCTV for businesses
Shops, offices, warehouses, farms and yards need systems that cover entrances, tills, stock areas, loading bays and car parks. We design commercial CCTV with enough cameras and storage for your site, and footage that can be exported quickly for insurers or the police. We can also link CCTV with intruder alarms, access control and door entry, so your security works as one system.
CCTV repairs and servicing
Half the CCTV calls we get are for systems that have stopped working properly. A recorder that has quietly stopped recording, cameras showing "video loss", night vision that has failed, a foggy picture, or an app that stopped connecting after a new router. We repair CCTV of any make, whoever installed it.
- Recorders: failed hard drives replaced, recording schedules and overwrite settings corrected, firmware updated, date and time fixed so footage stands up as evidence.
- Cameras: faulty, water-damaged or vandalised cameras replaced, infrared and colour night vision restored, cameras realigned after storms or building work.
- Power and cabling: failed power supplies and PoE ports traced and replaced, corroded connectors and junction boxes renewed.
- Remote viewing: phone apps reconnected and set up for everyone who needs them.
- Upgrades: old analogue systems brought up to 4K in stages, reusing sound cable already in the walls.
We find the actual fault with a tester rather than guessing, replace only what has failed, and check every camera by day and after dark before we leave. Regular servicing catches failing drives and cameras before you discover them the day you need the footage.
Staying on the right side of the law
Home CCTV is legal, but the Information Commissioner's Office is clear: if your cameras capture images beyond your property boundary, such as a neighbour's garden or the street, you take on responsibilities under data protection law. That includes having a good reason, telling people with signs and handling footage properly. We avoid problems by angling cameras carefully and using privacy masking to blank out areas you shouldn't record. Businesses have further duties, and we can advise on signage and how long to keep recordings.

FAQ
Common questions
Free advice, no obligation. Tell us your postcode and what's wrong.
Call 0800 151 2978Do I have to pay a monthly fee?
No. Recordings are stored on a recorder at your property, so there is no ongoing subscription. Cloud backup is available if you want it, but it's optional.
Can you add cameras to an existing system?
Often, yes, depending on the recorder and cameras you already have. We'll check compatibility and tell you whether adding to it or replacing it makes more sense.
Is CCTV legal at home?
Yes. If your cameras only cover your own property, data protection law doesn't generally apply. If they capture public areas or neighbours' property, you take on responsibilities under UK GDPR, so we position cameras and use privacy masking to keep coverage on your own property.
How long is footage kept?
That depends on the number of cameras, the resolution and the size of the hard drive. Most systems we install keep a few weeks of footage before older recordings are overwritten. We size the storage to suit you.
Do you repair CCTV you didn't install?
Yes. We repair and service systems of any make, including ones fitted by other installers who are no longer around. Tell us the symptoms and the make of recorder if you know it, and we'll give you an idea of the likely cause and cost on the phone.
