TV wall mounting done properly
A wall-mounted TV should look like it was built into the room: level, at a comfortable height, with no cables hanging below it. It also has to stay put. A big screen weighs 30 kg or more, and the fixings that hold it depend entirely on what the wall is made of. That's where most DIY jobs and cheap installs go wrong.
Digitel UK mounts TVs of every size, from a bedroom set to an 85-inch living-room screen, for homes, landlords, pubs, offices and waiting rooms across Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. All our engineers are local and know the houses in their area, from Victorian terraces and timber-framed cottages to new-build estates with timber-frame walls.
Every type of wall
We fit to brick, block, concrete, plasterboard, timber-frame and older lath-and-plaster and stone walls. Solid walls take heavy-duty anchors set into sound material. Hollow walls are fixed into the studs or with cavity fixings rated for the load. Before we drill, we scan for pipes and cables and check the wall can safely hold the TV and bracket.
Not sure which bracket? Tell an engineer your TV size and what the wall is made of, and get a straight answer with your price.
The right height and the right bracket
The most common mistake is mounting a TV too high. For comfortable viewing, the centre of the screen should be close to eye level when you're sitting down, which for most sofas is around a metre from the floor. The calculator above gives a starting point, and our engineer checks it with you before drilling.
- Flat brackets keep the screen close to the wall and suit TVs at eye level.
- Tilting brackets angle the screen down when it's mounted a little high, and help with window reflections.
- Full-motion arms pull out and swivel for corners, open-plan rooms and viewing from more than one place.
- Pull-down brackets bring a TV above a fireplace down to a comfortable height when you're watching.
Cables hidden, not just tidied
Where the wall allows, we run power, HDMI and aerial or satellite cables inside the wall to a recessed plate behind the TV, then make good. On stud walls the cables run through the cavity. On solid walls we can chase them in, ready for you to decorate, or use slim trunking painted to match. We can also add a power socket behind the screen and move aerial, satellite and network points to the new position.
Soundbars, speakers and set-top boxes
Most modern TVs sound thin, so many customers add a soundbar. We mount it under the screen on a matching bracket, connect it by HDMI ARC or optical so one remote controls both, and check the sound and lip sync. We also wire in set-top boxes, games consoles, streaming sticks and surround speakers, and find a neat home for the boxes on a shelf or in a nearby cupboard. For full home cinema, surround sound or music in other rooms, see our audio visual and home cinema service.
Moving a TV or replacing an old one
Upgrading to a bigger screen often means a new bracket, and sometimes a new position. We take down the old TV and bracket, fill the holes, fit the new one and move the aerial or satellite point if needed. Once the TV is up, we tune it, connect every device and show you that everything works before we leave.
Homes, landlords and businesses
As well as homes, we mount screens for landlords and letting agents, pubs and clubs, offices, meeting rooms, gyms, shops and waiting rooms, including multiple screens fed from one source. Commercial screens are fitted with secure brackets and cabling suited to busy public spaces.

FAQ
Common questions
Free advice, no obligation. Tell us your postcode and what's wrong.
Call 0800 151 2978Can you mount a TV on a plasterboard wall?
Yes. We either fix into the timber or metal studs behind the plasterboard or use heavy-duty cavity fixings rated well above the weight of the TV and bracket. We check the wall before recommending which.
Do I need to buy the bracket?
No. We can supply the right bracket for your TV and wall, or fit one you've already bought as long as it's rated for your TV's weight and matches its VESA mounting pattern.
Can you hide the cables?
Yes. On most walls we run power, HDMI and aerial cables inside the wall to a plate behind the TV. Where that isn't possible, such as on some solid or listed walls, we use slim trunking painted to match.
Can you mount a TV above a fireplace?
Yes, but it usually puts the screen too high for comfortable viewing and heat can damage the TV. We'll check the heat above the mantel and usually recommend a tilting or pull-down bracket if that's where you want it.
How big a TV can you mount?
Anything from a small kitchen TV to 85-inch and larger screens. Big TVs are fitted by two people, on heavy-duty brackets and fixings suited to the wall.
