The coast between Wells-next-the-Sea and Weybourne is one of the most beautiful parts of the county, and one of the hardest to get a good connection. Flint and brick cottages in Blakeney, Cley and Morston, farmhouses on the ridge behind Holt and holiday lets tucked down narrow lanes can all sit a long way from the nearest cabinet. Starlink connects through satellites instead, so the distance to the exchange stops mattering.

We install Starlink for permanent homes, second homes, holiday lets and small businesses around Holt and along the coast, and connect the router to the rooms and buildings where you actually need it.

Coastal weather and exposed sites

North Sea winds and salt air are hard on anything fixed outside. On exposed sites we use rigid brackets and corrosion-resistant fixings, seal every cable entry and, where we can, choose a position sheltered from the prevailing wind that still has a clear view of the sky. A loose or rusting bracket is the most common problem we see on older coastal installations of any kind.

Planning on the coast

Much of this coastline lies within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape, and Holt, Wells and Blakeney all have conservation areas. In these places an antenna normally can't go on a chimney, wall or roof slope that faces onto and is visible from a road. That usually rules out the front of a cottage but leaves the back, an outbuilding or a ground pole in the garden. On listed buildings, we look first at positions that don't touch the building at all. Our guide to dish planning rules explains the limits in more detail.

Holiday lets and second homes

Many properties here are let to visitors or used for part of the year. We fit the antenna and router so they're secure and out of the way, label the equipment, and can add a mesh WiFi point or access point so the signal reaches every bedroom and the garden.

Working from home on the coast

More people now live on the coast full-time and work from home, and a connection that drops during a video call is a real problem. Starlink suits this well, and we can make sure the home office gets a strong signal, either from a well-placed router or with a network cable and access point to the study, a garden office or a converted outbuilding.

Starlink isn't always the answer. In parts of Holt and Wells, fibre is already available, and we'll tell you if better WiFi coverage is what you really need.

FAQ

Common questions

Speak to an engineer

Free advice, no obligation. Tell us your postcode and what's wrong.

Call 0800 151 2978
Can I have Starlink on a cottage in Blakeney or Cley?

Usually, yes. Much of the coast is in the Norfolk Coast National Landscape and several villages are conservation areas, so the antenna can't go on a wall or roof slope that faces the road. A rear roof slope, an outbuilding or a pole in the garden normally works.

Is Starlink worth it for a holiday let?

Often. Guests expect WiFi that copes with streaming and video calls, and many coastal cottages are a long way from good fixed broadband. We fit the antenna securely and run the cables so guests can't disturb them.

Will the sea wind affect the antenna?

Not if it's fixed properly. On exposed coastal sites we use rigid mounts and corrosion-resistant fixings, and position the antenna away from the worst of the wind where the view of the sky allows.

Does the installation include the Starlink subscription?

No. The broadband service and subscription are provided by Starlink. Our installation price is separate, and we explain the work and any mounting or networking equipment included before you book.

Can you install a Starlink kit I've already bought?

Yes. Tell us which kit you have and send a few photos of the property, and we'll talk through the mounting position, cable route and any brackets you need.
